NIMHANS alumnus
He is trained in Neurosurgery from NIMHANS which is a world-renowned premier institute of Neurosciences in India and one of the few Institutes of National Importance (INI).
He was trained there to manage the whole spectrum of neurosurgery including all sorts of complex cases under stalwarts of neurosurgery. He got trained in the latest field of Epilepsy and Functional Neurosurgery from NIMHANS, the leading institute in this field in India.
He carries with him the rich experience and knowledge of newest of technology being used in Neurosurgery as NIMHANS has world class technology and infrastructure which is difficult to find in any other government or private sector institutions in India.
Achievements
He is the FIRST Neurosurgeon of Gujarat to specialize and trained in an Institute along with a fellowship in the field of Functional Neurosurgery which includes surgeries like Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for Parkinson’s and other movement disorders, as well as surgeries for Epilepsy, Spasticity and Pain.
He has started Gujarat’s FIRST and ONLY Functional Neurosurgery program with an Inhouse team of experts.
He received a scholarship from an accolade of the International Functional Neurosurgery societies for DBS training. He also was awarded a bursary by SBNS (Society of British Neurological Surgeons) for his fellowship in Oxford.
He was a runner-up in an International quiz on DBS and Functional Neurosurgery
He is also an honorary Neurosurgeon at Narendra Modi Medical College (AMC-MET L G Medical college), Maninagar, Ahmedabad.
Fellowship Trained
He did his fellowship in Functional Neurosurgery from Oxford, UK under the mentorship of world renowned and pioneer Prof. Tipu Aziz.
He has been trained in neuroendoscopy under Prof. Dr. Y. R. Yadav, who is the pioneer of neuroendoscopy in India and also for minimally invasive “Key Hole” brain surgeries under Prof. Charles Teo, the internationally renowned surgeon and the pioneer of this technique.
He is also certified by the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, UK for training in trauma.
Experience
He has experience of more than 5500 surgeries over the span of 11 years (till 2023) of all sorts of brain and spine ailments as well as brachial plexus and peripheral nerve surgeries.
Apart from Functional Neurosurgery, he has a special interest and expertise in Neurovascular (aneurysm, AVM, cavernoma and Bypass surgeries) as well as endovascular interventions (coiling, embolization, stenting) and Brain and Spine tumor surgeries and brachial plexus surgeries.
He has published many research papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals. He also has presented his research works as well as given faculty talks at many national and international conferences.
He was awarded for his research by WFNS (World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies), the global highest governing body for neurosurgeons.
He is the reviewer for Journal of Clinical Neurosciences which is an international journal. He also has authored chapters in several neurosurgery books.
